Stage Brief

Glenorchy and the road that edges Lake Wakatipu on your journey to this alpine village is absolutely state of the creation art.

As on every stage, you will sign in for the day.  This will be open from 8.30am at the Glenorchy Lakeside Domain. Being the first Day of Tour of New Zealand 2021 when you sign in we will announce you over our speaker system. This will cover, your name, category entered, home town and country and, if a member of a team, your team name.

Following in the tradition of The Tour de France, The Tour of New Zealand commences with a prologue (a 37km individual and team time trial).

Teams will be set off at 30s intervals. For teams, the third rider over the finish line will determine the time of the team. Race partners, The Helicopter Line will fly our camera crew alongside you for some spectacular Television shots and still images.
